Read this for moving into a more product centric work position and the whole book is a good reference for the life of a product manager. Problem is, its for the life of a product manager at a very large company and nothing really specific for software products. Its great reference none the less and was quite detailed about the various aspects of such a position that need attention. Most people and companies ignore these points and the book intends to make product managers aware of that so they can improve their products in their markets.
Its a bit of a long read for certain chapters if you are not yet in such a position (especially the sales and marketing aspects) since I don’t deal with much of this directly and don’t have the quantity of any products I’m involved with since my work is mostly with large complex low quantity control systems (but still products).
