[...] Something that always amazing me is how quickly I find that others are interested in one of my favorite past-times, extreme mountain unicycling. Its a sport that hardly anyone does yet nearly everyone who sees and hears about it is immediately more engaging than normal. People become instantly inquisitive and puzzled when the topic comes up and I always get bombarded with questions about the sport. Things like: Why someone would ride a unicycle? How its even possible to ride one? When d source: Mountain Unicycling. Not thats An Engaging Activity! [...]

Hi

Mm, my boyfriend is becoming crazy about mountain biking. I'm not sure if I should forward this article to him when I read about the crashes ;)
But, I know he'll love it, so, sigh, will send him the link.

I like your reminder about engaging with others through our passions. So often one ends up talking about work - and for most that is far from exciting.

Thanks for the comment Marshall and definitely pursue that inspiration if you have it. I'd be happy to help and answer any questions you have about getting into it as well!

David, I think you may be right. I have a few other ideas in mind about how unicycling has given me and enhanced more of my strengths (confidence, achievement, etc) and will likely elaborate with some future articles in these areas as well. Thank as usual to keep feeding the fire with your encouragement! Its always appreciated.

Thanks for the heads up (versus wheel up) about this post Mike. When I was in Calgary working with Keith Johnstone he kept asking us to return to the obvious, that what comes "easy" to us and we take for granted is what we most need to write about or act, etc. This may be it for you so we just need to work at extending this and creating a bigger audience.

A few years ago, I saw a unicycle in a magazine and wanted to try to learn. I was pretty close to buying one at the time but never did because I didn't have the money.

Your article inspires me yet again. Like most people I'm sure, I had never heard of going off road with it. I'll start on some nice, flat area though. :>)

Thanks for the inspiration.
