If you try the interactive version (there are 2 versions of the DVD,in case you didn't know) and there are exercises to help you learn what level you are at with the shadow, and what your shadows are, though at first watching I couldn't see anything that I identified with but by the end I did, though I will agree with another post that if you're criticizing something in someone else that it is something you dislike about yourself. If you've worked through that issue then what you're doing is noticing it in others because you were there and maybe you're trying to help them not because you are still struggling with it. I did find it informative but haven't worked through all the exercises.

Two stars are hardly a rave review, and your honesty is much appreciated. There is just so much “stuff” out there today, that one can easily end up floundering in the flotsam and debris. I’ll pass on this DVD

hey! "I received a free copy of The Shadow Effect to review..." you know what? I think you have a nice job! I'd also like to have free books to review them. About the book... I think that the plot touches upon some interesting topics. I've always thought that there's something more about our lives.

This movie was a shameless commercial for Debbie Ford, trying to get you to pay for her "classes." I wasted $23 (incl. S+H) for a shallow infomercial with almost no information. It is not exactly a revelation that we have a "dark side." And the production was so cheesey, stupid re-enactments and truly overbearing corny music blasting through the entire thing. The music is what made the whole DVD seem somewhat humorous, since every sad story was accompanied by truly corny music. And the music that wasn't just corny had this constant heroic felling, like the filmakers knew they had nothing and so they thought they would fool people into thinking they were actually seeing simething by putting in really loud self important music. There was nothing to this movie - what a waste!

Mike,
I appreciate your time and thoughtful review of The Shadow Effect. The interactive version does have processes and addresses some of the issues you bring up. I personally recommend the interactive. At any rate, I'm grateful for your review and the connection we've had on-line.

Thanks for the comments, it was tough to put such a low rating for something that many are finding to be quite transformational. I experienced the same type of response however with movies like the secret, where there is a lot of hype and promotion but the movie doesn't really do anything for me. I've read books and origins of everything that led to the secret and that movie made no reference or credit to any of those previous writings which I absolutely hated. I can't say the same for this movie, but the feeling of the movie really not providing any value to me was right through it. I kept sitting there going, "So what? What next? Why?". And if a 1hr+ movie can't deliver some help and action, why should I believe that their interactive DVDs or processes can. I could be completely wrong on this, but I'd rather put my trust to something or a product that gives value from my first interface and experience with it. I feel like I'm ranting but it deserves more explanation.

I think I will pass on this movie. I believe in God but Satan is another story.I am sure this doesn't make me appear very religious but I think. We have to avoid temptation and evil in this world without thinking Satan is responsible for influencing us to do immoral acts.
I am not sure if the writers were using the Shadows in comparison to only see seeing things black and white. One extreme to another. Life has to be extremely happy or it is devastatingly wrong.
There are no gray areas, no in-between emotions.

I am taking your review and passing on this one.

Thanks Mike
